5 Reasons Why You’re Stuck in Life and Work

There comes a time in our lives where we feel stuck. It seems as if nothing is working for us. Negativity kicks in and everything seems to fall like house of cards. This is the moment which can either make us or break us. However, the choice is ours.

It’s easy to go with the flow in such circumstances. However, to covert this gloomy and dark phase, going with the flow doesn’t work. We need to move forward with positive thinking and understand that nothing works unless we do.

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there ~ Will Rogers

Here are the 5 reasons why you’re not getting ahead in Life and Work

  • Not getting out of your own established negative energy

Event itself means nothing. Our reaction to the event gives color and meaning to the event.

Think of the most bad day you recently spent. You felt like everything was getting out of control.

Once done, think of the very first bad thing that happened that day. Your negative reaction to that first bad thing generated negative energy within you. Once established, your whole day was ruined.

Now think about it today. Its….gone!

The best thing and the worst thing about anything is that it doesn’t last forever.

So why worry when everything is going wrong and why settle even if you have achieved your goals. Go and start looking for new ones. Life is not about settling down

Even if your bad day event still persists, start thinking about it positively no matter how hard it is. Trust me, you will find the solution. You will break the chains of you getting ahead in life and work.

  • Accepting the way things are and ultimately losing confidence

I have personally experienced this myself and have met many people with this problem. Some of us have this trait since the beginning and the rest are those who give up in the middle and accept the way things are which ultimately results in loosing hope and confidence.

I met a girl who had a very interesting question. She wanted to become the person she used to be and regain her confidence. In a 15-minute activity, she was able to recover from the situation. She was asked to list down all the traits she used to have. Eventually, she agreed that each trait in the list was written by her with zero external input.

When we know what we want or what we used to have, it totally depends upon us whether we want to progress and achieve it or we want to be lazy about it.

3. Giving up

If we fail in any particular matter, majority of us don’t even try for the second time. This happens because we believe that if we fail once, we are never going to succeed if we try one more time.

A problem only exists when there is a solution to that problem. However, by any means, we need to work towards finding the solution to the problem without giving up whereas, a lot of us give up during this struggle. It’s easy to blame the scenarios, environment, situations, and other people during this time. This makes us establish negative energy for ourselves. All the successful people have suggested one magical solution to this.

Work hard towards the solutions to your problems and don’t give up.

4. Not having the right people around

There is an old saying that “A man is known by the company he keeps”. I believe that a man is influenced, attached, attracted, and inspired by the company he keeps. If you surround yourself with people who are not adding value in your life, leave them. If they don’t/can’t help you getting ahead in life and work, leave them.

It is very difficult to leave a group of people anyone is attached with for years. But this decision has to be taken once and for all. Remember, no one is bigger than you for you. If it is effecting your life, you have to get it out of your life in order to progress.

It is far better to be alone than to be in a bad company.

5. Resisting change

Change is not the problem. Resisting the change is the problem. We are so comfortable in our comfort zones that as soon as the word “change” strikes our ears, we become resistive. This concept is not just associated with processes. This resistance is also seen when it comes to changing our behaviors, attitudes, and reactions.

All of us know our strengths. However as soon as we are asked to share our weaknesses, we need to think for some time. This is because we love our selves. It is very difficult for us to listen to the negative feedback and acting on it.

All the successful people in this world were very cautious about their feedback. They embraced the opinion of other people about them and changed themselves into more productive and progressive people.

In short, whatever the reason may be for you not getting ahead in life, it can fit into the above mentioned 5 reasons. Identifying the reason is easy. Working for it is hard.
